As a past member of Team Canada’s hockey program, current member of Team Canada’s Inline Team and experienced Professional Speaker and Mental Health Advocate, Kendra brings a unique set of skills and networks to her role at Zylog.

Kendra Fisher Speaks Out on Living and Coping with Anxiety

The Toronto Catholic District School Board is hosting a symposium for parents and educators featuring the personal journey of Kendra Fisher, former member of Team Canada’s National Hockey Program

Toronto, Ontario (POST) February 16, 2011 – Kendra Fisher, former member of Team Canada’s National Hockey Program, gives hope and encouragement to dealing with anxiety.

The Psychology Department at the Toronto Catholic District School Board will be holding a symposium for parents and educators on February 23^rd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Catholic Education Centre, 80 Sheppard Ave East in North York.

Kendra Fisher will share stories of her personal struggles living with anxiety and depression. Ms.Fisher has experienced first-hand the stigma attached to mental illness and its impact on sufferers in a society that is still learning about this condition.

Ms. Fisher was preparing to represent her country on Team Canada’s National Hockey Program when the condition became overwhelming. “The dream absolutely changed,” stated Ms. Fisher in an interview for CBC news. “Certain situations just got to be too much for me to cope with. I didn’t know how to get help for it.”

Kendra Fisher learned to cope with the disorder and now lives a very productive and happy life. She is a goalie in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League and a Senior Resource Manager at Zylog Systems (Canada) Ltd. As a Senior Resource Manager, Kendra is able to realize her passion for helping others by placing candidates and job seekers in gainful employment and advancing their careers. Kendra dedicates much of her spare time to helping others to find hope and encouragement to overcome fear, depression, and anxiety for a full and rewarding life.

Carla Amodio and Grace Labao, members of the TCDSB Psychology Department, will provide advice and suggested resources to attendees.
